I live and work in Toronto, gathering most of my metal from the shores of Lake Ontario and the abandoned railway tracks running through the port lands. The found objects are just that, bits on the ground, pieces given to me, stuff left in the back of drawers. The old windows are salvaged from Northern Ontario dumps, Toronto back alleys and donated by friends.
I see exceptional beauty in rusted metal and hidden potential in abandoned artifacts. I have no idea what ever gave me the idea to suspend these things in frames. Perhaps it was the urge to create order and meaning out of the piles of collected material at my disposal.
My hope is that a completed work grabs the imagination and has something novel to offer, something previously unnoticed, some question about the material's origin, each time it is viewed.
